West Ham United reward a lifelong fan on her 93rd birthday

Team members at Ladyville Lodge were delighted to present a surprise gift from West Ham Football Club to resident Connie to mark her 93rd birthday.

Connie is a lifelong West Ham United fan and our team thought it would be a wonderful idea to present her with a birthday present with a difference. West Ham agreed and sent a personalised shirt, complete with her age on the back.

This unforgettable gesture was organised by our Activities team at Ladyville, showcasing our values of creating meaningful relationships, being positive and light-hearted, positivity, being authentic and there for each other.

The joy on Connie’s face was an absolute picture. The shirt was a symbol of her lifelong devotion to the team. 

Activities Coordinator Karen Tremlett tells us more: 

“Every resident has walked a different path in life before arriving at Ladyville Lodge and it’s important for us to listen to their stories and memories for us to learn what is important. West Ham is Connie’s love, and this is what makes her unique. We find ways to make important moments even more special. We’re here to support memories and make new ones for residents and loved ones to treasure.”

 The surprises didn't end there. The team went above and beyond, showering Connie with cards, flowers, and serenading her with a rendition of her favourite song, 'I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.'

Moments like this remind us of how important relationships are in our home. We’re such a strong community and we celebrate everyone as individuals. We foster a sense of belonging, connection and emotional well-being for all residents who choose to live with us.
