The importance of Respite Care

IF YOU ARE SOMEONE WHO PROVIDES CARE FOR A LOVED ONE, RESPITE CARE CAN BE ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE TOOLS THAT PERHAPS YOU HAVEN'T USED YET.

Being the primary carer for a loved one means that you are someone who puts others needs first. We understand it, there's no better feeling than knowing you are providing the greatest possible care, especially to a loved one, but it's important to make sure you are still taking some of that valuable time to look after yourself too.

Some may see providing care as a lonely experience but that’s definitely not how we see it, and you shouldn’t either. Sometimes you just need to be able to make a little more time in your busy schedule to go for that coffee with a friend or take that afternoon to do that hobby you have been meaning to do, or finish that book you never got round to finishing. Let us help you look after your loved one, so you can spend some time loving you.

Respite care doesn’t exist to only benefit the caregiver, respite care comes bursting with benefits for the care receiver too!

SOCIAL INTERACTION

Having the opportunity to meet new people or make new friends doesn't stop with age. When you step through the door of any of our care homes you are instantly welcomed into our community, whether it be by our amazing team of carers, or our fantastic residents. It doesn't matter if you stay with us for a day, a week, or a year, it's hard not to become part of our family as we all share our stories, interests, and hobbies with each other. We also have a wide variety of social activities at our homes that you can take part in. If you have green fingers, you can become a member of our allotment club or if music is your thing, you can enjoy a performance from a live singer, singing all the classics!

IMPROVE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING THROUGH ACTIVITIES

You may not realise it as it's happening, but all that time spent taking part in activities and socialising, sharing stories during respite stays at our homes, it helps improve both physical and mental well-being. And you know what they say, health is wealth!

CHANGE OF SCENERY

A simple change of scenery can be a powerful mood booster, especially when the environment is filled with like-minded people all wanting to share that buzz of positivity. When you spend time in a light-hearted environment, it really rubs off and you end up feeling it too.

A TEST RUN

For many people, respite care can be a very useful way of testing a care home to see if it’s exactly the right fit. We know when planning long-term you don’t simply want to jump straight into the unknown, so we always recommend a sort of ‘test run’. Obviously, we’re biased, but we strongly believe you’ll be impressed when visiting our homes and meeting our brilliant team

Our homes offer a happy, safe, and homely environment where people can be as active or relaxed as they wish.
We always try to offer the most flexible approach when it comes to any type of care because we know that there is no one size fits all.

If you’re interested in respite care at one of our homes, then please do get in touch today and one of our team will be able to help you with any questions and queries you might have.
